- 07:00—Sunrise over Kanchenjunga. Breakfast served on the veranda.
- 09:30—A walk through Happy Valley tea estate. Midmorning tasting.
- 12:30—Lunch at the bungalow — clear soup, momos, lemon rice.
- 15:00—Toy train descent to Ghoom. A short pause at Batasia loop.
- 18:00—Tea on the lawn. The hills withdraw into mist.
- 20:30—A quiet supper. The piano plays, faintly, in the next room.

Chapter Two
The Monastery Road
Sikkim, Days 4–6

- 06:30—Morning bell at Pemayangtse. Stillness, then chant.
- 08:15—Butter tea and barley bread under a painted ceiling.
- 10:30—Drive to Gangtok along switchbacks of green stone.
- 13:00—Lunch at a roadside tea house. Pork momos. Soup.
- 16:00—Rumtek monastery courtyard. A cat crosses, deliberately.
- 19:00—Dinner of thukpa and grilled trout. Snowfall, briefly.

Into the Forest

- 05:30—Pre-dawn jeep into Gorumara. Fog, hooves, grass.

- 11:00—Return to camp. Breakfast under the gulmohar.

- 18:30—A bonfire is lit. The cook plays the dotara.
